Even german roaches have a color morph, american roaches have a few morphs including a really cool one (venom) but I barely see anyone talk about having pet smokybrowns, nor have i seen any type of color variety. Do people just not like them? Anytime I want to learn about them I just get pest websites.
Personally I love them! They are the reason I got into roaches (found roomates cats pawing around an injured nymph and felt bad), and I have a slowly growing colony from the initial few I grabbed from outside so the nymph wouldn't be lonely. They are a bit skittish, but have super cute nymphs, and are fun to watch. They also have such a pretty color range from jet black to a deep red. I get giddy anytime I see one outside. I'm really good at grabbing them off the ground in a single motion. I currently have 6 adults, 2 large nymphs, and 15-25 tiny hatchlings. all the adults and big nymphs all have names and I can tell them apart!! They motivated me to save some hissers from the awful petco abuse, and I'm thinking about if I have enough space to get some of those venom american roach morphs.
