    FEMALE Dubia with Wings!

Checked on my roaches today... And I found a FEMALE dubia with wings! She looks a lot deformed; even the abdomen is a bit "messed up." She has not entirely hardened, so I don't know if she'll make it. If any one is interested in this specimen, let me know! Pics soon!

    Tiger Hissers

Well, I have a few of these little guys I received a while ago in a trade. I thought that they were G. grandideri, but after looking over some ominous forum posts I'm not entirely sure what they are. Are they P. vanwarebecki or G. portentosa?

    Marcopanesthia!!!

I've decided I'm going to take the plunge into roach heaven with these guys. I'd love to just ask questions, but I'd rather post what my setup would be like and have some critiquing from there. 10 gallon aquarium with 4 inches of potting soil and sphagnum moss in a 3/1 ratio with some dead...

    Eublaberus hybrids; What'll I get...

So I decided the other day I'd try to do something interesting; cross a male E. distanti with a female E. posticus. I've separated out each at the final instar before the adult molt. Before I continue to let the two cohabitate, are the two species compatible genitalia and genetics wise? The...

    Cryptocercids!

I might have found a source for a few of these guys. I know they need adults to produce the necessary gut flora for the young, but what I don't know is if they will need additional food other than the wood, and also what temps they like. Also, do they need hard or soft wood? About what level of...

    A. tesselata- Territory marking?

I'm cleaning my peppered colony right now so they're all in a separate container; I noticed one of the males smearing this clear goop along the bottom, a few nymphs and females checking it out. Another male came up, checked it, then started moving towards the male who put it there. There was a...

    Hybridizing

I have a BIG question on hybridization. Is it the physical shape of the genitalia that prevents roaches of different species from hybridizing, or is it their genetics?

    Worm ID

Although I have no pics at the moment, I would like an ID on the worms I found today. They range from about an inch to 4 when stretched out and were discovered under an inch or two of somewhat dry hardwood leaves. When trying to escape, they wiggled ferociously back and forth with little...

    Hatched or eaten?

I a closer look at my harlequin enclosure today... It is absolutely OVERRUN with oothecas! However, I'm wondering if these ones are hatched or have been eaten.

    Odd nest

My dad found this in our garage and I cracked it open. My guess is a tarantula (spider) hawk wasp. Any other guesses or ID's? http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/4116/img0587ub2.jpg

Does any one know where a culture of these can be acquired, specifically for the use of killing reptile mites?

    An atrocity to all hobbyists...

http://www.redtailboa.net/forums/reptile-r...-need-help.html I was absolutely disgusted when I read this... Even we as roach keepers have to show our support for this unfortunate person. Imagine if your most prized and cherished species, being insect or herp, or anything, was slaughtered by...

    Native roaches! :D

I went herping today and while rustling through some leaves, I found roaches! The adults are an amber color and about 1/3" long. No pics at the moment; I only had time to catch about 5, all juveniles and one freshly molted adult.

    The Endeavor of Cleaning Bins

Had to clean my hisser bin today... Not the best experience. We need to figure out a better way for cleaning big colonies. Any ideas?

    A step forward.

Today, I attended a meeting to assist freshmen at my school with science fair ideas. Having done my project on roaches, I influenced about 2 or 3 of people to work with them, as well as a handful of others to work with other invertebrates. I think we may be making some headway in recognition of...

    Cell Spider

I found one of these the other day and I'm keeping it in moist conditions similar to a tarantula. Last year I almost bred them. Any one else have experience with these guys? **Note, I learned the name as cell spider, but apparently another more common name is the woodlouse killer.**

    Help finding link...

Where is that website with the balloon-wing cockroach morphs and etc? I need to contact them for my science fair, which is going to internationals and states. I'll be representing our hobby. :P

    A few general questions...

Do peppered roaches do well at room temp? Around 76? Do red and black roaches do well at room temp? Also, one of my Parcoblatta species matured yesterday. It's about 3/4 of an inch long and is an orange-amber color. It's a male and the wings are full. Thanks! -Kyle
