    Temperature observation:

On my recent 8 day survey of Costa Rica, I learned many things. Among these I found that roaches there have a tendancy to stay out of the heat for the most part. Temps ranged anywhere from 58'F to 85'F depending on altitude and other factors. The locations where I have seen the most roaches...

In case you wondered... "Who is this Matt K guy and why is he posting all the time?" Well, I work from home and work whenever I feel like it off and on through out the day. Somedays I work non stop and others I don't at all. Generally, I am in my home, rarely leaving it though I can and do...

    General discussion about availability:

***Just a thought. There ought to be some way to centralize a list of what species are actually in U.S. domestic cultures, and which ones may be available. Not that everyone needs to chime in with thier own inventory list, but if there was some way to add species to a community list, even...

    Egg cartons/Crates:

Soem roaches seem to nibble the egg cartons they climb on and others don't. Does anyone know if this indicates something, or had been a problem for you ?? In my case, it is not a problem. The roaches seem fine so I am fine with it. But curious to know why... ??????

Things roaches in general won't eat:

For some reason any roach I have seems to not eat these items: Tofu Parsley Cilantro (occasionally will) ...can anyone add to this list? I normally try to feed them anything I eat if its whole and fresh.... I am not inclined to eat "junk food" but on very rare occasion.

    Light or Dark:

Here is something interesting I have been fooling with that maybe we could all talk about: Light and Dark. Do you keep your roaches in a room with windows or not? Do they get sunlight or not? Do they get moonlight or not? Do they get artificial light or not? And for any of these, for how...

    Differentiation between hisser species:

Orins quote- "Wow Matt, you've got a lot of handsome cockroaches. I've seen pictures of hisser colonies with white 'shoulders' in the past though I thought it included adult females but I'm guessing those photos were these. Have you noticed any anatomical details that could be used to easily...
