    Roach behavior question.

Are some roaches generally happier in small/large "family" groups composing of roaches of different ages rather than all similarly aged animals? I ask because after adding an adult American roach into the enclosure (I caught the thing in the house) ALL the nymphs immediately changed there...

    These are amazing

    Antenna damage.

Due to a collection mishap I managed to sever a good portion of a new roaches antennae and it's currently breathing heavily and not moving. Will it survive, or should I end it's misery? I feel bad for it honestly.  Well it just bolted so it may not be a total loss.

    Just curious.

What do you guys think was wrong with this roach? Was it physically damaged in some way, or merely could not last in a house? I found it in my house a week ago, it barely tried to run, after hours of trying to rehab it, it not so unpredictablely passed away. Now compared to a presumably...

    Pycnoscelus surinamensis colony.

Well I have absolutely no idea what this guy is... :P none whatsoever.  Found it in less than five minutes, had to drop it in the pool to ensure it's capture. Now I just need two more, and the mascot collection will be completed. @Hisserdude

    Pycnoscelus surinamensis colony.

Alrighty, it ID time. Tonight I found an unusual thing, a Suriname roach on the move, over pavement, it was rather sluggish and did not even try to run away, I captured it so maybe it can possibly be rehabbed. But the prize of tonight's hunt is this little guy, after 30 minutes of cat and mouse...

    Pycnoscelus surinamensis colony.

Roaches like peanut butter they said, it would attract them they said.. #Sass @wizentrop In all seriousness my roaches totally ignored it in favor of the orange slice and dog food, even the American roach only gave it a passing glance. I guess they don't like extra chunky.... (I don't either...

    Collecting Roaches

Well not a single sodding thing today, other than a single American Roach, that I accidentally caused to lose its back leg. I placed the poor thing where one of the bait stations was. Do roaches also have a stay away pheromone as well? In areas where I've looked that used to have lots of...

    Pycnoscelus surinamensis colony.

Well I think I've acquired the colony mascot... And rescued a Suriname who some how jumped into the swimming pool... Introducing the first mascot. And the second. I don't know their genders or if they will even breed but they should add much needed surface activity. And yes, not even 30...

    Collecting Roaches

So what methods do people use to collect wild caught specimens? Specifically using traps? Designs and methods?  I generally just flip promising objects but recently started baiting them with dog food and orange slices to try and lure different species to easy locations for capture. To be...

    Pycnoscelus surinamensis colony.

Ah as an incentive, there are a LOT of pics at the link I provided to the original thread. Some are just now getting comfortable enough to snag treats with subdued lighting vs pitch blackness. But here is the newest addition... And one of the cleaning crew. I've also seen possible males...

    Pycnoscelus surinamensis colony.

Tried that as well, the food molded too quickly, due to overly moist soil Soo yea. Hopefully they will eventually come out to drink, but pet dirt is an apt description of these guys.

    Pycnoscelus surinamensis colony.

It's been a very long while since I posted here. Anyways here is my first roach colony. Due to the exceedingly small photo upload size restrictions this is the only way I can show you detailed pics. http://arachnoboards.com/threads/introducing.294323/ I can't even upload my smallest pics. :P

I woke up two of my dominulas for a twofold experiment. First of all I want to see if their hibernation period can be shortened without adverse affects on the wasps. Secondly I want to test out dominulas invasive nature and adaptability. The materials I used were 1 abandoned polistes...
