The joy of field collecting comes crashing down

Boy I thought I had found something unique. I flipped over a log and there it was. A P. scaber almost glowing blue/purple in the sun! Then you google it☹️.  They should call it the blue death.

    What am I doing wrong?

So I had collected several isopod species. A. nasatum, A. vulgare, P. scaber, P. pruinosis. I placed them in containers with coco fiber, rotten maple wood, dead oak leaves and kept them damp. After a few months everything vanished in all the cultures but the Armadillidium. There are some...

    Anadenobolus monilicornis enclosure size?

I got some more in the mail today to fulfill my original order. A few of them stouter than the first. Some of them have the thinner fainter bands. Also got two of these guys. Trigoniulus corallinus?

    Anadenobolus monilicornis enclosure size?

I have about a dozen bumblebee millipedes coming soon. Do millipedes do better in a smaller or larger enclosure? I know some inverts do better crowded some need space. I currently have an empty 2.5 gallon and a 5.5 gallon to choose from.

    Creating an edible ecosystem.

So my West African Rubber Frogs have proven hard to feed. When they hop into the feeding dish, the tiny dubia play dead. Because I keep all six of them in a 40 gallon long, I have had to add isopods to help combat fungus gnats. This was a good idea because they seem to be hunting the babies...

    Predaceus diving beetle

I added a few of these to my Fire-bellied Toad tank. Man these are cool. They are constantly swimming. I added three but I just witnessed one being eaten by a toad lol. I will definitely being collecting more from my water garden. It would be nice if they will breed. I will be adding plants that...

    Shipping question

So I have been thinking about putting some stuff up for trade. I know roaches do fine through the USPS. What about tararantulas? I have two, possibly 4 different Tarantula I would like to trade for roaches or other inverts. I had to pay overnight shipping 40$ flat fee to get them.

    Hisser allergy

Well I reached in my hisser tank and scratched my arm on a piece of bark. Within seconds my arm broke out into hives. Now I truely know I am allergic to them. It seemed I have been fighting a lot of allergy symptoms when I got home lately. I am curious as to why hissers cause allergies more than...

    Hemiptera ID (nymph?)

So I found this black dude (a little red tint to the abdomen) under a board in my pole barn. I'm assuming it's a nymph since it has no wings? Any guesses?

    Ant keeping 101

Ok folks, I have come to the conclusion that my West African Rubber frogs are only interested in eating ants and termites. Out of the six I have only two will sparingly take newborn roach nymphs, pin head crickets or isopods. So out desperation I collected  Tetramorium caespitum to feed them...

    These are cool

It's a shame these are so high. These are instant vent covers for our roach bins.  https://www.amazon.com/Gear-Aid-Bug-Mesh-Repair/dp/B00MKXCAEY/ref=sr_1_27?ie=UTF8&qid=1499648481&sr=8-27&keywords=no-see-um+screen
