aborted ootheca suddenly

First Instar
I have about 50 mixed hissers - from nymphs to adults. Everything has been going well, and no husbandry has changed in the last 6 months, but I have noticed 4 aborted oothaca in the last month. In the last 3 years, I have never had an aborted oothaca, so I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what could be going on.

There is now way they could be disturbed since they are on a shelf in the spare room. Temp is mid 80's - same as always. Same food, same water, same substrate.

Thanks

Laura

This can happen completely randomly, if nothing has changed with your care I wouldn't worry about it too much. Some times when they drop they are consumed before you can find them, so there might have been a dropped ootheca and you would never know it.

you could see loss of females with this i changed a colony too much at one time and i lost about 50 females and a ton of babies

If nymphs were born population increased, and that could count as a change. Perhaps overcrowding is stressing them? What size enclosure are they in?
