This species is non-climbing, so does not need a barrier (no messy Vaseline needed). And they are not as quick as some of the other species, so they are easier to catch. I don't even keep a lid on their tub half of the time, as they never climb up the sides and can't get out. They love oranges! And I feed them my special mixture of cricket/roach food (finely ground cat food, dog food, guinea pig food, rabbit rood, fish flake food, fish pellet food, bee pollen, dried dandelion flowers, and I can't remember what else right now) all ground fine and mixed. And they LOVE it, by the way they chow it down. I think I'm going to start offering the cricket/roach food for sale soon if there is any interest. But I'll send a sample of it with your starter roach colony.
