Dermestid beetles and stink?

I got at least 200 beetles and larvae from a teacher and they REAK!!! Will they always smell so bad? Or will they mellow out in time?

If they still eat decaying items they will most likely smell. Mine smelt and I kept cage rather clean.

If you want mellow, relatively odorless deremestids you want larder or hide & tallow

I'm going to feed them dead roaches and dog food so will they keep smelling if I feed them that? As soon as I get upwards of 20,000 or so I may start cleaning skulls but that's a maybe... I don't like the smell to much

I think the smell is the species you have but if you just feed them dog food they will smell less if it isn't.

Really? I have been reading it is just the animal matter but I suppose it could be like the Florida skunk roach kinda
