Aww no, that sucks!  :( So sorry to hear that man, I hope you'll be able to re-enter the hobby soon!
Thanks for the support guys, it means a lot to me! Really sucks that it's going to go down like this, but I'm hoping to still be able to supply WC stuff from Texas if I can sneak them into my new apartment. Basically having to sell all my stuff because new management isn't cool with any inverts in the apartments and they actually spray every other week to keep pests away. Old management said it was fine to keep things so I figured I'd be good.

Probably going to be a couple years before I'm truly back again, but I'll still be active on the boards and I'll try to keep myself sane with other hobbies. Fortunately there's plenty of nice places to bird-watch and collect insects for my dead collection here so I can keep doing all that. May try to start selling deadstock too. Don't really know since I'm still trying to come to terms with all this...

I'm sure you can keep a few small colones hidden somewhere like you could leave a drawer empty in a dresser and put some colonies in there

Well as an exterminator, I can say it's not too hard to get your bug man to skip your apartment. It only matters how persistent your landlord is. Give me a reason to skip you and I will. Lol
I'd thought the same thing, especially since there are over 100 apartments in this complex. Seems like a heck of a lot of work for a company.  Management seems super anal about it though and is trying to get the exterminators access to all buildings once a month whether the tenants are there or not. If there's something I have to sign for that I'm not going to. For now you just have to ask for them to come in and they will, though they supposedly check around all the buildings weekly.

I'll likely keep a few of the rarer things hidden away somewhere and focus more on catching and trying to bring some of the interesting south Texas inverts into the hobby.

At one point I had over 100 animal spieces and my apartment knows of only the dog cat and fish tank...there's a dog they don't even know about lol. The way I do it is I have a locking cabinet for my spiders and a closet just for the roaches. That keeps it simple I have a few tanks I toss towels over when maintenance comes. They have even sprayed pesticide inside and it was fine no losses. It's gonna be fine. :)

If you keep the, in a box in the top of a closet they should be safe. Only a bedbug treatment would call for spraying up there.

Thanks guys, that makes me feel a lot better :) I'll still do some downsizing since I have waaay too much right now, but I think I'll be able to keep a good number of the rares/favorites/future projects. Actually have a high shelf in the closet that should be perfect...

You can also ask them to use pesticides that are not airborne, like gel baits and traps.  In the past I've claimed it's for allergies (because all my inverts are deathly allergic to sprays, however they likely thought I meant myself).  ;)
