Freshly molted Giant Peppered with a gel blob, and not hardening?

Giant Peppered problem. Again. :(

Not sure what he's oozing. It's not Vaseline from the sides and there's nothing else even remotely like that in the entire room.

It's also been over 24 hours and his wings haven't unfurled and he hasn't hardened up yet. He's only slightly darkened up from this. The Gelly Blobs have also darkened.

Anyone seen this before?

To me it looks like it was bitten by another roach or injured while it was still soft and vulnerable right after molting. And the yellow gooey stuff is maybe leaking fluid from the circulatory system?

Looks like this I think, it should heal and besides looks be healthy otherwise.

 
^^ Agreed. It definitely looks survivable, although he may not have mating success with those wings.

 
I'm not seeing him in there, and there were pieces of dead ones again today. :( Really not having luck with this species!

 
Mine have had deformed wings like that when I did not keep the enclosure humid enough before their final molt. I now keep my nymph enclosure quite humid and have had better luck. Once they get their wings, I move them to the adult enclosure which is kept more on the drier side.

 
How high of a humidity works for you? Their tank is up near 80% and I keep the substrate moist at all times now. (As opposed to around 50% and drier sub which also wasn't working. :wacko: ) I also added in more bark and branches for them to molt off of. Most of the time they don't seem to bother to anchor and just molt on the sub.

 
I don't actually measure the humidity - I just spray it good a couple times a week and adjust the lid opening as needed.
