heat mat for roaches where to mount?

Hi,

i just a Exo Terra Heatwave Vivarium Heater 11" x 17" for a 29 gallon tank.

i plan on using this tank for some giant cave roaches, B. giganteous, with some giant hissers and maybe one more larger roach species.

the question is where should i mount this heat mat. at the bottom of the tank or on the side? why?

thanks for the advice. my house does get pretty cold later in the winter where the temperature can get in the higher to mid 50's.

Are there any that are common in the hobby that you should avoid adding heat to?

I've found that arenivaga (I'm trying to find sp.) don't like heat and seem to do best at 65-70. But, of course, these are not common to the hobby but other sand roaches may be similar, I don't know.
