Hello Again Roach Lovers!

RenOfTheRoaches

Third Instar
Good Evening Everyone!

My name is Hannon, though when I first started on here, some of you may have known me as Ren, hence my rather outdated handle. In any case, I was away for a while to take care of myself and my family, but now I have more time and energy and I wanted to re-join in the forum fun. I had such fun here years ago, so I came here to see if the forum was still there and I'm happy to see it is! So, here's a bit about me:

- I've kept roaches for probably half a decade now, but my love of keeping bugs goes back to childhood.

- I've kept TONS of species, and honestly, it's been such a crazy two years that I don't remember some so by no means is this list exhaustive. I've kept Hissers (My fave, multiple types/colors/species and genera), Dubia, Eublaberus (Many types), Blaberus (Many types), Therea sp., A. methanoides, Simandoans (Love them!), smaller blatta or periplaneta (3 varieties of American Roaches) and Turkistans (Though I hear they've moved genus these days? Same as American Roaches I believe?). I also have had cloaked sun roaches, taiwanese assassin mimics, and a good few others. I was really nuts about it for a bit there haha. I guess I'd consider myself an experience handler by now, but there are many genera I've never kept and don't know much about. I hope to expand my knowledge of them in the future. Apologies for switching between common and scientific names; I couldn't remember the common for one or the scientific for the other.

- I do keep one or two feeder varieties nearly exclusively for that purpose; it's almost always dubia but these days I actually find my Bearded Dragon prefers glowspot roaches so I feed those often. I feed them to my Beardie and my Pink Toe Tarantula (Rarely, mostly easier prey to get into her web area).

- Currently, I only have a few enclosures as I have had less free time the past few years. These are L. subcinta, E. posticus, E. serranus, E. sp. ivory, and also a few mealworm and superworm friends that I put in for cleaners and for feeding my spider. They're just a part of the family now so I count them even if they're not roaches.

I apologize for not remembering the other species but I had so many and it's been a minute. If I had to pick a favorite thing about roaches it would be their cuteness! I think they're so adorable, especially their little faces.

Well, outside of roaches, I'm a big gamer, history nerd, fan of paleontology, foodie & cooking obsessed, language fanatic, HUGE music listener of all types, and co-owner of a small business! That's just a bit about me.

Don't know if that post was too long, but I like giving full answers. In any case, I hope you all have a great day and let me know some of your fave roach species in the replies!

Nice to meet you all!

Welcome back! Surprised that nobody else has said anything yet... Seems the forum is full of watchers, but not talkers. Awfully quiet these days...

Thanks! And yeah it's slower these days it seems! I hadn't been on in a few years and wanted to see what was happening. Thanks for the reply in any case! Also, always fun to meet fellow roach enthusiasts of the Southeast!

+1 on the video games and music. Definitely a big part of my life.

I see you have several Eublaberus species currently. They're less "exotic" but are (along with Blaberus) one of my favorites and VERY solid, bulletproof in general. Horseshoe crab roaches are fun, if you haven't tried them yet (Hemiblabera)
