Reason I ask is some how the Babys manage to escape and I rescue the ones I see but the question simply put is can they survive longterm outside of their enclosure in the average airconditioned home????
You may want to scrounge around a hardware store for some rubber moulding or the likes. I've had babies near escape and have always found the rubber great for plugging gaps.

Hissers can tolerate cold and dry surprisingly well. Babies less so. I've been using roach motel glue traps for those "just in case situations". Don't know if they'd be able to survive, grow and reproduce, depends on your house and temps, but they'll probably survive a few weeks easily.
