Mysterious white powder

Do anyone know what is on this cockroach? It feels like powder and do not stick on the exoskeleton. I have sprayed the roach with water to wash it off (it got washed off, but came back later). My other hissers do not have this powder.

Could it be something in the substrate? What substrate are you using and what sort of hides are you giving them?

I use no substrate, and I use a root with hiding places. And only one has the powder.

I've noticed this on my hissers as well.

This substance only appears on hissers after they molt to adulthood and is perfectly normal. Some think it has something to do with desiccation prevention.

Many arthropods are known to produce powdery coats, including the isopod Porcellionides pruinosus.

Thus, its occurrence on hissers isn't too surprising.
