New to Roaches, With a Story

I own tarantulas but have never been particularly interested in roaches.

But last weekend while visiting Washington, D.C. I went to the Smithsonian Natural History Museum, and in the insect exhibit, a nice volunteer offered me a Gromphadorhina portentosa to hold. I thought it would be gross, but I very quickly determined that this was a very dignified insect indeed, and not at all true to the reputation of the household roach pest!

So after eventually "winning over" my wife (but not totally), I just ordered some Gromphadorhina portentosa to get started! Yay! :)

If they have offspring, I may see if my spiders like them. ;)

I found this forum through a link from the Roachman's site.

Nice to be here!

Welcome aboard! My T. Blondi loves adults, C. brachycephalus likes the little guys, some of my other T's don't really dig them though. Who knows, maybe you'll give up on crickets and come over to 'roaches. ;)

Maybe you'll give up on tarantulas and go right into pet cockroach enthusiasm? (Of course you still need something to eat the extras).

Welcome!

Thanks! I figure some of my T's might be picky, but maybe some might have a roach sweet tooth! ;)
