roach allergies

I'm allergic to roaches and so I haven't had any luck keeping them. Are there ways of keeping them that negates this? Like maybe having them bioactive? Maybe species that are better for allergies? What about hissers?

As someone who is also allergic to roaches, I can say that hissers are among the worst for allergies. I would instead recommend smaller species that prefer more humid environments, since the dust from dry setups and larger roaches in general (especially Blaberids) trigger my allergies the worst. Species that can be kept with springtails, maybe certain isopods, etc., will also probably be better for you.

Damn, it's ironic that you of all people are allergic to them, but it also makes sense that you would be because you've been keeping them for so long lol.

Yeah the excessive exposure to an allergen can make you allergic to something, and I think that's what's happened to me. Granted I definitely don't have it as bad as some other people, and it's only really digging around in hisser bins or holding larger Blaberids in general that causes skin irritation.
