Twelfth Instar
Hello everybody.
As some of you may, or not, know I am a student at Southern Utah University. As part of my undergraduate research I am an assistant curator for the college's insect collection. I am attempting to create a really nice cockroach display for the museum. I am undergoing this endeavor to help educate people about cockroaches and I think that it would be highly educational and enlightening to the public and students who visit the museum to maybe see cockroaches, and insects in general, in a different light. I believe this is what many of us here would like to see someday and is the purpose behind this society. I would like to help visitors gain an understanding and maybe give them a glimpse of how we, as this small cyberspace community of roach lovers, see our insects and for most of us consider, by a not to distant stretch, as our "little friends". There is a problem though, I need YOUR help. I do not have as many specimens of cockroaches as would be needed to even set up a display of four species. At risk of sounding like a charity case, I’m begging you to help me with this. The only way I will be able to make this project a success is with cooperation from the good people of this wonderful forum. Unfortunately, I can’t buy the specimens from the suppliers for this project do to the fact my budget is nonexistent; any materials for the project are going to have to supply from my pocket. I feel strongly enough about this that I’ve agreed to pay for all materials need except I don’t have extra money to pay for specimens. If needed I may possibly be able to pay for shipping or at least part of, but again this is all coming from my personal bank account. If you are interested in helping out and “donating” some dead specimens please feel free to email me, PM me, or post a response. For me this is more than just some project for the school, it’s really an aspiration of some sort and it’s like leaving my personal mark on the college. Yes, I have been told I am slightly crazy but I think most of you can relate somewhat at least as to what I am feeling. Again, I would like nothing more on earth than to make this a success and the only way it can happen is help from the members of Allpet Roaches. I genuinely thank you from the bottom of my heart for any "donations" you could send us.
