My boyfriend is doing his dissertation on calcium supplements in Achatina fulica (giant African land snail) hatchlings, I'm not totally savvy about snails, but he asked me if I could ask here if anybody in the UK can help him source them.
The study will involve five groups of snail hatchlings, all fed identical diets except for the calcium supplement, they will be weighed at regular intervals over several months until the study is complete.
He was originally breeding his own snails for the project, but they've suddenly stopped laying eggs just when he needed them. He's willing to pay for the eggs, which is worth something since most people I know just destroy them and get nothing for them.
All hatchlings will either stay living with us after the study is completed for the rest of their lives, since we're more than happy to look after them, or a few will be given to some of our invert-loving friends who are looking for snails.
