L. verrucosa liquid excretion from its mouth?

Hello,

The title pretty much explains all; last night, I dabbed on the back of my L. verrucosa female and a little later it excreted clear liquid from its mouth.

I'm wondering what the liquid is and what caused my roach to produce it????

Although I don't have that species I have seen my hissers and dubia excrete the clear liquid and it has a odd smell too I believe it's a defence mechanism

It's some kind of defense mechanism. A lot of mine do this if I pick them up too quickly.
