Magnolia leaves

A short time ago, I decided to give my Death's Head roaches a naturalistic setup. They lived in a plastic bin for over 2 years and had no issues with feeding before. I still had magnolia leaves left over from my dart frog days and decided to use the as hiding places for the roaches. About a week later, the leaves were devoured while they ignored their normal food. Is it safe for roaches to eat magnolia leaves?

Yes. Magnolia is safe for leaf-nibbling roaches. Same for many Ficus. sp. also, fyi.

 
I recall magnolias are among the oldest plants so I imagine cockroaches were eating them 250million years ago.
