    So many new species!

A couple years ago I had to sell off most of my roach colonies due to life circumstances, so I've been out of the hobby for a little bit. I'm just now beginning to get back into it in a serious way and it seems like while I was gone the hobby exploded with new species! I used to recognize just...

    Counting question

So up until now, I have been hand counting my roaches. I was wondering how much a hundred dubia of various sizes would weigh. I need to deal with a large amount and can't possibly count them. I know it can't be exact, but that's not what I'm looking for, just an easier way to count roaches. Any...

    Cleaning Question

When you guys are cleaning your larger dubia bins how do you prevent a significant loss of nymphs? It's impossible for me to dig through the old molts and frass to find them all, is there any easy way to separate them? Or is losing some just part of cleaning the bins? (I'd like to think not)

    Sharing my pain

Lesson learned. Never let other people move your roaches. I lost an entire colony because my mom left my roaches in her car while she made an hour long stop. It's 105 degrees. I lost 100 dollars of roaches and 600 isopods. No more Panchlora nivea for me I guess... she doesn't understand why I'm...

    Mites

Since I've started heating my tanks I have had an explosion of grain mites. Aside from being kind of gross, are these doing any harm to my roaches in large amounts? If they're not then I'll leave them be, they don't bother me, but if they are I need to overhaul my tanks. TIA.

How have cockroaches changed your life?

I just wanted to make a little appreciation post for out little insect friends. I am a college graduate who became permanently disabled shortly after I got my degree. I was crushed.I had an amazing job lined up in my field and had to let it go. I had always been into insects from a small age...

    Porcellio scaber

I recently went to a friend's un-pesticided yard and collected a ton of these guys, I'm really impressed by their mold control abilities.
