    The measurement of an enthusiast

Hi all. I began to wonder, just what is a "large collection" vs. moderate or small collection. What do you consider to be a large number of species to have? How many people do you think have collections larger that 8 species? 20 species? 50? I think I have a large collection compared to roach...

    Barriers:

I have had great luck with most species using Vaseline. The ony downside is that some roach species seem to nibble on it and over some time eat it all away before it would normally need to be re-applied (which I do about once a year). Has anyone tried anything new other than teflon paint...

    Damon sp.

I get the impression there may be more than a handful of people who keep / rear these in captivity. I have been thinking about getting 3 and trying my luck. Can anyone report what its really like to keep them? Are they active at all or pretty stationary? How frequently do they feed? (every...

    New colony thoughts:

It seems to me that people who get into the roach hobby are always wanting to buy a new species in groups of 50 or 100. What ever happend to buying a couple pairs or a dozen and trying to grow and establish a colony that way? Is it a need for instand (and fleeting) gratification? Part of the...
