    Feed for high humidity

I have having issues with my pantanals. Now that I have 80ish adults and dozens of babies of various sizes, flake food is no longer an option. Everything molds before they seem to eat it. Dog food, Guinea pig pellets, shrimp pellets ignored. Am I feeding to often? I was placing fresh food every...

Metallic wood boring beetle Buprestis rufipes

I found one of these today. Probably the most beautiful things I've ever seen. They say they eat dead or dying trees. I am going to experiment with freshly broken branches. I theory, those would be dead or dying eventually. Perhaps cut blocks of Fire wood migh be better. Although I cant find the...

    Parthenogenesis in dubia?

So in February I got some lobsters and found a dubia 1/4 inch nymph in them. It molted into a beautiful female in April. I went through the lobsters last night and found two 1/4 inch dubia nymphs. Could these be nymphs from February that just hadn't grown or could this be parthenogenesis...

Do your roaches prefer the red pieces too?

I have noticed in my Javanica hissers and Nauphoeta that they always eat the red pieces of dog food immediately. My pantanals won't eat dog food however. Have any of you guys seen this in your species?

Lesser mealworm beetles, signs of overcrowding?

So my colony of Nauphoeta came with lesser mealworm beetles as a clean up crew. I must say they do clean up the molts and dead. However I have noticed they seem to do a great deal of eating. The dog food, fish flakes, oats, Guinea pig pellets are swarmed with them in seconds. How do you know you...

    Love this roach thing!

So I have had many animals over the years. This roach hobby is super fun. Every day deciding what's on the menu. Refreshing water. Retouching vasoline. Culling for feeders from my lobsters. Misting. Cleaning my humid feeder dishes. Plus hours of time can be spent watching their behavior.

    Wing biting on females only

I have noticed in my eublaberus "pantanal" some biting beginning. But it is only the females whose wings are being bit. Is this a sign of too many males?

    55 gallon aquatic ideas.

So I have a 55 gallon tank. It has lots of live plants, drift wood etc. I did have a start of endlers live bearers and guppies. However after two years they are not thriving. The original females are almost gone and it seems to have been producing 9-1 males to female ratio. So I am trying to...

    Stowaway

So I appear to have a stow away in my lobsters I got last month. It's probably an inch and a half. It must grow quickly because I never noticed anything non lobsterish. I know the photo isn't very good but I'm guessing dubia. If it's a blaberus nymph I will know if it continues to grow.

    Help with sexing Eublaberus pantanal

Can anyone give me tips on sexing these guys? do I look at abdomen segments? I picked up and compared a few but they looked the same. Although one was a tad smaller and instead of being black it had a light tan underneath. From above they are the same. Although I do have a few three spot pronotums.

    Excessive males hamper breeding?

So my start of E. Javanica is about 26. There appear to be 10 males that I have seen and 2 females molted out thus far. This not for sure as I haven't removed things and did an official count. Will this effect breeding? I know I don't need that many males for fertility. My wife heard a series of...

National pest management association roach info

I was reading through the NPMA handbook today on roaches. They say the lobster roaches that live wild in Hawaii will kill and eat the pacific beetle mimic roach. And that there are populations of Madeira roaches established in New York. Thoughts?
