That's my favorite NA mantis too... To bad they don't live up here so I've never actually seen one...
If you come to certain parts of the south you'll encounter a bunch. A professor I know found about a dozen couple of weeks ago in the same spot where this specimen was collected.

Unfortunately, they don't occur in your area so you'll probably won't see them until you travel through southeastern US. However, you have some pretty cool mantids down there too

Yup... You have Pseudovates, Yersiniops and stagmomantis limbata out you're way... You don't have just cool mantids out there, you have cool everything. Tucson is the US arthropod diversity capitol.
