Can I use this substrate?

I was shopping and found this inexpensive substrate that is designed for other animals. It is called Natural Critter Care. The package says that it has no harmful chemicals oils or additives. It is made from reclaimed virgin wood pulp and it looks kind of like shredded egg flat material. Will this work as a substrate for roaches? I am afraid of using the spagnum moss from Lowes because of the chemicals that it "might" contain.

 
i think is should be fine i think, also you can use coco fiber as a substrate you can usually pick it up at pet stores for cheap or hydroponics stores for cheaper.
