So i have been keeping a small colony of dusky sap beetles on a diet of fruit ( apples, cherries, peaches and bananas ) and I now have f2 larva.
About five days ago these largish mites showed up. Still to small to get a picture of them on my camera, but 5 times larger than grain mites. There are lots of them and since they showed up I have only seen two larva in my cage. Is cause they are eating the eggs or are predatory on the larva or are they harmless and my sap beetles are just acting out? Also the mites look like the mites on carrion beetles, but I have only seen one adult with them on it, and there were only two mites on him. Thanks in advance.
