Food for Vacations

RaZias

Sixth Instar
I am going to stay 3 weeks in vacations on summer.

What kind of food should I leave to the roaches ?

I have 15 adult classic hissing roaches and 20 Javanica roaches.

I know that bread will have fungus in 3 days...

Dry cat or dog food, romaine lettuce eaten so quickly it usually never spoils, white bread, iguana fruit pellets.

Hi

yes, it's food for fishes. I use it for years now, it's cheap, roaches love that and you can keep a bin of it for a while with no matters. They look like pellets and are made of cereals, with sometime some additive things in it (some smell like fish, other doesn't relly smell...)

I buy it in a pet shop in my area, I just have to take a bag an put as much sticks I want in it (1 kilos, 2 kilos, or more) and go to pay.

it look like this:

I wouldn´t recommend bread.

I use it once and after 4 days it had fungus all over it (withe mycelium as tall as mushrooms).

It sticked on the "head shield" of one Portentosa but it quickly disappeared form the roach.

In fact I think it´s the strongest one of the colony.

When I had crickets, a pet shop boy recommended tropical fish flakes had all the nutrition they need. Since roaches and crickets are supposedly related, I give my German roaches the flakes and also a brown powdery vitamin supplement made for crickets (Fluker's) brand. Since neither are fresh food, they won't go bad while your'e away. Fluker's also makes cricket quencher water gell which will hold water better than cotton balls and you don't have to worry about them drowning in it. All 3 items are in most pet shops. Not sure if it's good for ALL roach species, but my Blabberous Disorderous did good with the stuff as well as my German.
