Funny Behavior

All About Arthropods

Hi guys!

I've noticed some funny behavior from my roaches. I have observed my P. divisa, E. decipiens, and E.lixa, sit on an egg crate and rub their backs against the side of the container, I've also seen them do the opposite, sit on the side of the container and rub their backs on an egg crate! :D Just though it was funny and comical behavior, don't think anything's wrong, just wanted to share with you guys!

Have any of you ever observed your roaches doing this?

I have seen Loboptera decipiens rub their abdomens on the surface they are walking on, and a similar thing with Paratemnopteryx colouniana too. Likewise, I don't think it's a problem, but likewise I haven't a clue what they are doing . . . itchy shell? Scent marking? Vibratory signalling?

All the best from Bill. :D
