A close second would have to be the Apsena sp. "Kuna" I collected the other day, same story with those, hopefully I can reestablish them in the hobby now that I know they likely just need a diapause to induce yearly breeding,
That's awesome! Glad that you were able to dole them out to some other hobbyists.My favorite find was a group of Parcoblatta americana, since the Idaho strain had all but died out in culture, thankfully I was able to collect more, establish a culture, and distribute them in the hobby once more.
Wish Parcoblatta spp. were more popular in the hobby - the sheer deficiency of people interested in keeping cultures makes it pretty easy for species/localities to be lost whenever just one or two hobbyists' colonies crash.
Yeah, me too! I wish Parcoblatta were more appreciated as pets/feeders, but oh well, I'm happy I was at least able to get these americana into the hands of the few people I knew who were really interested in them. I actually still have a relatively large culture of the Apsena! Thought they had the fungus for a time (like I, all too easily, assume everything does now lol), but I've recently realized that what I had to be observing was just the result of sub-par husbandry and them being outside of their breeding season. Was contemplating asking if you wanted some again, but doesn't look like that's the case anymore.

Oh wow, I'm glad to hear that, thought those died on you a while ago! Glad they're doing well, I'd definitely recommend a winter dispause for them, I know my Conibius and Blapstinus breed best after being given a dispause at least, and they were both collected in the same area as the Apsena.

Nope - they may have wavered for a time, but now I have dozens of them! Yeah, it seems just keeping them on the floor in my house provides cool enough temps to account for a diapause as they are definitely reproducing again.
