My son is fascinated with hercules beetles and wants to know if he can get one as a pet.
There are two hercules beetles native to the USA, Dynastes tityus and Dynastes granti. D.granti are only available wild caught and only live a few months wild or captive while D.tityus may be acquired as captives which live up to twelve months. You'll have to wait for either, granti come out around August while captive D.tityus are generally available fall to winter.
