Hissing cockroach abdomen fight

I noticed when my hissers fight they ram eachother but also use their abdomen to swing at the other like we would a baseball bat, sending the other roach tumbling. You can't get a roach tougher than a male Hisser!

I keep a few mealworm beetles (and their newly born young) in one of my hisser colonies, and they will often butt the beetles if they disturb them. Also, a young roach will sometimes crawl onto a larger individual, who will then try to fling the smaller one off.
