Is there a predatory roach out there?

Just curious, are there any roaches out there that r predacious, like mantises?

If so, what r they???

Thanx :)

Roaches are opportunistic feeders, they will eat live prey if it's weaker and easily consumed (fresh molts especially), but generally they will only eat dead and decaying insects/animals. That being said, they will readily eat oranges over freshly molted kin any day.

Periplaneta americana and Eublaberus prosticus are among the more daring predators. Not even either of these regularly eats live, healthy insects, but they can if they feel like it.

They will eat anything, true to their omnivorous nature. In the past there was a family of predacious roaches, but it is believed that these were outcompeted by mantids for that niche. Who knows, there may be a strictly predacious species lurking in a jungle somewhere. :)
