Is vermiculite a suitable substrate for Macropanesthia?

I see a lot of threads that talk about both fine soils and sand,  so would vermiculite be a viable alternative? I have some nymphs on the way and want to know if I need to go out and buy a different substrate to the vermiculite I have.

Vermiculite COULD work in small amounts in a substrate mix, but honestly you'll be better off using just coconut fiber.

I used it as a substrate a long time ago and had no problems EXCEPT it stuck to the exoskeletons and made them look dirty.
