On a lark, I looked at Postage to South Africa and Namibia from USA...

Flat rate package = $80+

Flat rate envelope = $45+

Not to mention the possibility of customs having an issue with bugs in the mail...

Sorry, it's an idiom.

"on a lark" means that an action was done for no particular reason- it was done on a random impulse, on a whim.

I am in USA. I just saw his post and thought you might be interested in contacting him. I do not know him, I just saw his comment in a roach group on facebook.
