:P Hi there! I have several different kinds of roaches, and would love more!!! Right now I have the Madagascar Hissing, Dubia, and Lobster roaches. I am not big on the 'scientific' names they are given, just the names commonly gone by! Kind of a nickname person!

The only questions that I have as of yet....

How do you tell (with photos) a male from a female lobster???

What are all the roaches that give live birth???

Are pawmetto bugs roaches???

I am sure that other questions will pop up, but those are the best I can do for now. My favorite roach (for the moment) is my hissing roaches! I love how big they get and the fact that they make noise! Luv it!! (Yep, I am a girl....)

Well I hope to learn more on this site, it was referred to me by a friend! Thanks!!

Welcome! I have some answers to your questions:

1. Female lobsters are typically larger than the males.

2. The roaches in the family Blaberidae give live birth.

3. "Palmetto bug" is a colloquial name given to the American cockroach (Periplaneta americana) and the Florida Stinking Roach (Eurycotis floridana), among others.

Welcome aboard!

Another way to tell lobster adults apart it by a look at the last segments of the abdomen. If there's a large plate it's a female, if it ends in a small segment it's a male.
