my new texas giant millipede

I found a millipede wandering the halls of the school where I work this morning. 3cm long. I put him in a petri dish with some coconut husk bedding, some crumbled alfalpha pellets, and a small piece of apple.

If nothing else, it's something to show the students.

Hope you can find some more millipedes for your collection.

Narceus spp. are the largest available in the US. Narceus gordanus is a decently thick millipede, but US millipedes will be nowhere near as large as AGBs.

My favorite is the albino Narceus americanus, very pretty, hardy, and easy to breed, only available as captives.

A large Orthoporus can be as long as smaller AGB's and N. gordanus can be nearly as thick (only those from certain areas like Ocala) but nothing is like an AGB.

Thank you!

I found a small one in my flower pot last summer. But it died in winter. I don't know the English name of it.
