I was reading through the NPMA handbook today on roaches. They say the lobster roaches that live wild in Hawaii will kill and eat the pacific beetle mimic roach. And that there are populations of Madeira roaches established in New York. Thoughts?

I would add that I found a few Little Kenyan Roaches (Blaberidae sp. “Kenya”) in some leaf litter in San Antonio, Texas. :)

Stinking humans!!! ;)

Really, got some pics? If you do could you submit them to bugguide? It would be helpful to know what tropical species are becoming naturalized in the US. Also, this species has been identified by Orin as a Paraplecta species. :)

Thats crazy about the lil kenyans. Can you tell us where in san antonio? I live in austin that could be a fun trip to try and find them.

These are not my photos above. I noticed them online first and then when I went to San Antonio I looked for some in a vacant lot near the river walk. I looked in the leaf litter on the periphery of the vacant lot and found one. Just something fun to do...I guess they were introduced awhile ago. :)

Ahh still fun though I might still try to go down there to find some. Its been awhile since I have spent to much money on trinkets. : P

Ah ok, that makes much more sense! :) Surinam roaches have invaded many of the southern states, still a cool find imo!

Ya, some parts of the river walk have more of a "natural" feel to them. You might have better luck there. The leaf litter I found this one in was moist from a recent rain. Good luck!

Both are unsubstantiated, but very old, rumors.
