pesticides in roach food

Does anyone else worry about residual pesticides in the fruits and vegetables they feed their roaches? I know as a group they are pretty resilient animals but I'm trying to start my first colony of dominoes and I'm a little over-protective maybe.

You could always buy organic produce to feed your roaches. It's a little more expensive, but there are no chemicals or pesticides on them. you could even go one step further and wash it all too, right before you feed it off.

Hello,

I always wash the roaches fruit. Also, I keep some tomatoes plants and orange trees and so I´m sure thay they are free of pesticides.

Best regards,

Javier.

If you are buying fruits at a market they shouldn't have enough traces of pesticides to make them sick. Pesticides are poisonous, it's that simple. They don't just kill "bugs" the will kill any animal that ingests them. So, the fruit you buy should have low enough levels for human consumption then they should be low enough for cockroach consumption. Having said that I wash my own fruit but if you are concerned about your fruits and veggies you should wash them for your own safety first.

Wash your fruit. Think of all the grubby hands poking and squeezing the fruit while at the market
