One of the latest advancements regarding disgust treatment is testing exposure with different stimuli for very reluctant subjects with severe affections, and one of the most popular disgusts in the world is definitely the common cockroach subspecies (germanica, periplaneta americana, and orientalis).
The thing is that I'm no expert in microbiology and biology in general, and I've heard that it's possible to sterilize dead roaches. I happen to find a couple in my garage now and then, and I would like to do a little dozen collection to use in psychological practice.
But I'm not sure which are the best ways to preserve them intact and sterilize them for comfortable manipulation with the hands without putting anyone at risk, given that they are not domestic and I'm going to pick them “from the wild”. This is the fastest way for me to get a set, because going the domestic way will take ages.
I know that some members in this forum enjoy collecting some dead bodies they find here and there, so I would like to hear your recommendations.
Thanks in advance.
