I live in South Carolina and just found the most amazing rhinoceros beetle on my porch that I trapped in my my 3-year-old's bug catcher for him. This beetle is the most peculiar looking one that I have ever seen. It has a flat elongated head head with wide horns that are about half the size of its body. The horns have spikes sticking out on the sides about halfway up and pincher-like endings. It's lower body is shiny brown, but the rest of it's body is splotchy light brown. splashes of color. Does anyone have any idea what kind of beetle this is?
