For a while now, I assumed this species was Supella Longipalpa, the brown banded roach. However, they seem to lack any sort of banding as both adults and nymphs.. Whatever they are, they are a very common species in the outdoors of Northern California. This is the best picture I have for now:



I'm thinking Symploce is a possibility too.
