How do you know when a roach or egg is DEAD?

just touch the supposed-to-be-dead roach and see if it moves. most animals actively dislike being touched by humans (or other wannabe predators) so it should move if its still alive.

The eggs are a case of its own: just have a cup of coffee a see if it hatches (maybe several cups)
