Is the Roachman out of business. I had ordered from him for years. About 6 months ago I emailed him and it took ~3 weeks to get a very short response (just a few words)... He's always been very nice and informative...I've heard rumors that he's out of the game....

That's too bad if he is...he always had a SUPER impressive list of availible species.

Just wondering....

 
"Roachman" went out of business pending health issues. As of a few months ago he only had 20 or so species, and he did not tell me what happened to the cultures. Just wrote me a letter stating he was no longer to be selling roaches. Too bad.

Thanks Matt- I hope he's ok... He did alot for the hobby and always had a list to drool over.... even if you didn't have cash- he'd always trade with you!

Man I hate to hear that. I too have done a few deals with him in the past and have always been satisfied. I hope he's ok.

Oh man! I had the pleasure of trading roaches with him directly in person, and i saw his colonies first hand and it certainly was something to drool over. I sincerely hope he's ok, i was about to email him to find out if he was interested in a trade. Keep us posted.

I had sent an email in recent history that was unanswered...though that is his way. Go ahead and touch base with him and if you are in the area, do a trade with and check in.....he has been around a long time! Let us know!

 
I saw that someone had posted on arachnoboards that Roachman willis MIGHT be getting back into the roach hobby... is there any truth to this? I'm not getting my hopes up- I heard he had failing health...i wish him the best...he really helped to push the roach hobby along some...his list was always mindblowing.

 
This is a real bummer! I never dealt with the Roachman, but had a very high regard for him as I am sure we all did. :(

Bumping this up as I am also curious as to how Roachman is doing. I had ordered some of my original colonies from him way back in the day and when I recently decided to get back into the hobby I had emailed him and gotten no response.

As everyone has said, he was a wonderful person to deal with - I sincerely hope he is OK - does anyone have any updates?

 
It would seem by all accounts that Roachman is out of the picture and does not plan to return....

This is quite a shame, he's a great guy and i certainly hope whatever health issues mentioned are not serious. He always gave us a fair deal and gladly showed us whatever new stock he had, welcoming us in his home and always showing us hospitality. He also showed up at most of the White Plains reptile shows over the years. If it weren't for him I'd probably have no colonies to speak of.

 
Roachman is resurfacing after a long absence, though he does not currently have any colonies established, I am sure it wont be too long before he does... ;)

 
He made this post on a tarantula forum ten days ago:

"hello everyone its been to long but I am back thank god!!!!! please send lists of what you have thanks and god bless you all oh yea BaBy ROACHMAN is Home"

 
I have emailed back and forth with him a few times, and no doubt he has called Orin by now. He was out of the hobby but is getting back into it more or less. Give the man a chance- I am sure he will post on this forum sooner or later.

 
I sent him a hello message on that "other forum" a couple weeks ago. He replied and said it has been a long time. I also checked to see if the name Roachman was taken here on the forum and it's not. I was giving him a chance to join on his own before telling him he needed to get his butt over here and join before somebody else registers HIS name;) He got a little bent out of shape in 2001 when I titled a page of a website I used to have "Roaches of the World". He said it was his title to place on a website which a friend was then working on. Any idea who that friend could be, Orin? Anyway, I took the title down out of respect for the one and only "Roachman" (and because he asked)!

I imagine he probably wants to freshen up his roach knowledge a bit before he tries to mingle over here with the big boys;) (just kidding...I'm still trying to play catch-up and we all know it!)
