Roachman Willis

This is before my time here.

Will we benefit from his experience if coming back to the forum? Or will he mostly be occupied with the cultures and lists?

I used to trade with him years and years ago....and have sent him a few emails. One within the last year... and one a month or 2 ago.. and never got a response from him. :(

Was talking to Orin about this last week, but one of my all-time favorite bug-banners was the one Roachman used to use. He had an animated banner with his own picture on it. His mouth would open and a hisser would be in there. Comedy! I hope he still has that banner.

Maybe there was a roach on his head too? Been so long...

Well he, like Orin, has kept an exceptional number of species and can attest to the husbandry of several species that either are not around in the hobby any more or rarely encountered. So in that regard we would benefit from his experience. Though he does have abit else to offer as well....

Well, one of our members here in 'Exotic Insects' in Denmark were having 48 species at his most.

It is complete non-comprehensibly to me, how anyone can properly be looking after so many species. I am only having 14 species in daily care and that is lasting much too long (being family-father and all that).

How on earth do you overcome it? Are you using all available time to observe them besides all the care...

I am now removing roaches, changing all inside and using hot water on 3 cultures that have been infested with Dermestes haemorrhoidalis. These little buggers and their larvae eat ALL: - oothecas, decorations, food residue and dead roaches. Removing the colony takes time when some small nymphs resembles the beetles...

Time - time - time

Why are the text-codes not working when they are interpreted right now??

Does anybody know if roachman is still keeping roaches? His site says he is out of business for now. This topic says that he was making a comeback in 2009, but he has not come back, has he?

If I remember correctly, he developed serious allergy to roaches so he no longer keeps them :(

That is not true. Richie kept roaches for decades ( and never developed allergies. When you start rumors on the internet they often never die.

Oh, so why did he stop keeping roaches? Just lost interest? I don't think i could ever lose interest, but then, i have been interested in roaches since before i can remember.
