Just wondered what shows people no about, and where? The only one I found near me is the his show in Doncaster, Yorkshire. There's one in June ;) If I can I'll go. Perhaps if I turn it into a social thing and don't explain I'm going to hopefully get more roaches, I might be in with a chance of not being escorted by family lol. Don't no anyone round here who'd be interested though :(

Seems like finding "roach friends" is pretty difficult!

I still haven't met anyone in Colorado. There are plenty of reptile enthusiasts (and shows/fairs) where one can see some "feeders." I still haven't attended a reptile expo. I guess that would be a good place to start :)

It would be so fun to attend some kind of a Roach Festival where we all could meet! Attend various roach lectures, buy roach crafts, buy new roaches for our collections!

we vend alot of local shows but dont bring much mainly feeder species shows we vend are local to the NYC area and Manchester NH

there have been very few people that are interested in Roaches at these shows for other then feeding at the White plains expo two other venders have more then one species of roach

Problem is most 'roach folk' on here seem to live in the US. There are 2 people, me included, that I know are on here and live in uk. That makes it more difficult to meet 'roach folk'

I feel for you SLE18!

Interesting how "international" this Forum is - yet we are all so spread apart.

I've met some wonderful people here, though!

If there's anyone in Colorado . . .give me a holler :)

I used to be in contact with someone 5 mins from me who keeps exotic pet cockroaches, tarantulas, bearded dragons, and walkingsticks and exotic mantids, but he stopped responding to my PMs on another site and never gave his phone # so I could meet up with him. Even at these reptile shows since I used to buy roaches some people do keep insects as pets but they also sell some as feeders for money. However exotic roach species are rarely sold so just selling a few for profit might work if people think there is only a limited amount being sold and they are rare. ;) there is an asian guy selling exotic bugs at them. mabye its society people are afraid they'll be judged wrongly for liking creepy bugs or something, but we know lots of people are into the hobby only a matter of time before we meet them. :)

Also another idea is meetup.com you pay a small fee to create a group about anything, you can make one about bugs! Then people join and you all meet in person weekly or monthly, to do things or places, you make the schedule/agenda. You could base it around show dates or each week talk about how to care for pet roaches.

I bet there are similar, free sites like meetup. Or a Facebook group could work maybe. There are risks meeting people online though. FaceTime and similar could help with that though. There's no hiding then. Lol -when I started this I didn't think I'd end up on about the dangers of meeting people online!

andy the bug guy but he doesnt breed he buys most of his stuff wholesale

we will be offering small amounts of pet species once our colonies grow out some.we have 13 species but only 4 for sale.

our deathshead, and discoid colonies will be available soon.

but things like glow spots, harliquin, giant cave, ivory, and peppered still need about a year

I checked the States for roach Meetup groups and there's just nothing. There are hardly any insect, arachnid groups of any kind! Perhaps most roach people are die hard introverts staying out of the light. . .!

That's why we need to make some. :)

Mmmm. You're right. Keith. Just not sure i have the guts. I wonder if it's allowed to have events in parks and publish it as far as possible.. A cockroach/insect show in a park, dog at my side...what could be better?

One thing that would be cool to do would be to have a small roach exhibit you could take to schools. I'm sure there are plenty of teachers that would love to have someone come in and "talk roaches" with the kids.

I actually got my Peppered Roaches from a local teacher who has a tank of them in his classroom! He discovered he had a ton of nymphs and decided to sell some off.

A College by me has an Entomology class. Unfortunetly I didn't have GPA to go and take the class or that would have been great to show them off.

Maybe in a few years when I have a career. I will never be able to drive so it could be quite costly. Meetups will probably be easier for now, but I'm on a tight budget and don't have online banking.
