    ISO: B. lateralis

I'm looking for a good amount of B. lateralis. Not a small starter colony, enough to start feeding from immediately, and preferably a mix of sizes.  I'd prefer to trade- I have a lot of Platymeris assassin bugs available, and I can collect Narceus millipedes, Dolomedes fishing spiders, various...

    FS/T: Platymeris biguttatus

I have a fair number of adult whitespotted assassins available. Adults: $12 each. These are mostly young adults that have molted in the past couple months. Small- medium nymphs: $9 each.  I'm also open to trade for some things: Certain tarantulas (Brachypelma, Lasiodora, Psalmopeus)...

    Black carpet bug infestation

These guys? I imagine they're probably helpful like other scavenging beetles, cleaning up dead roaches and such. But if they're extremely abundant and don't have another food source they might start going after molting roaches.

    How safe are dermestid beetles?

I want to hear people's experiences with them. Do they ever attack roaches? Are they likely to attempt to chew through a plastic bin? Is it a good idea to add them to a roach colony?

What isopods are native to the U.S?

Why are all of the common isopod species in the US supposedly non native? Apart possibly from a few southern Florida species, it seems all woodlice are introduced from Europe... Why aren't there any native North American species? And considering how abundant the invasive ones are, why hasn't...

    Lesser mealworms- good or bad?

I'd like to hear everyone's experiences and opinions on adding these things to roach colonies. Are they harmless and helpful for removing excess waste and dead roaches, or will they take over and compete with, stress, or in any way harm the the colony unless kept under control? I'm worried that...

    Calasoma sycophanta

Introduced European relative of C. Scrutator. http://s1303.photobucket.com/user/salmonsaladsandwic/media/image.jpg1_zpsxzkzshwb.jpg.html Found him in a park that was experiencing a gypsy moth explosion.

Scavenging clean- up crew for live- food specialists

So, for a few days I've been keeping some chinese mantis hatchlings in a tall deli cup with a cotton- plugged feeding hole in the side. I'm having trouble attracting fruit flies so I've been feeding them tiny chironomid midges and other insects aspirated from a window at night. A problem I've...

    Tiger Beetles!

Tiger beetles are great. (I'm pretty sure i've seen the C. Sexguttata and C. Duodecimguttata ovipositing!)

    Centipede eating wasp!

Went to feed my stone centipede, found him in this condition: http://s1303.photobucket.com/user/salmonsaladsandwic/media/image.jpg1_zps8wm4llzg.jpg.html I've noticed a strange dark spot on his left side for a week now, but I never suspected this! I'm tempted to keep the cocoon and see what...

Are these two different species of parcoblatta?

Last week I was collecting parcoblatta. Most of the logs and boards I turned over were teeming with these smallish, dark reddish colored nymphs. One, however, had five or six larger nymphs that are light orange in color and have a somewhat different body shape. The darker ones were completely...

    Parcoblatta ID

Anyone know what parcoblatta this is? Found in a dry, sandy pine- oak forest. Looks darker in person. http://s1303.photobucket.com/user/salmonsaladsandwic/media/image_zpsdql9lvg3.jpg.html?filters[user]=142895694&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=1

Paper wasp worker still alive after eight months

This spring, I decided to keep a paper wasp queen with a little tiny nest indoors in a plastic tank with some cardboard. She hatched some larvae, and I fed her caterpillars to chew up and feed to her grubs. When I went away for a week, she died- along with all the grubs except five that pupated...

Very early signs of dyskinetic syndrome? Or just reaction to being poked?

I wanted to post this on arachnoboards, but it wouldn't let me sign up... It was being weird. Anyway, I recently got a rosehair tarantula ( I know, I know... Cheap wild caught cliche spider...) that I believe to be a female. I noticed that when I poked at her, she sort of slowly raised her front...
