This is my favorite all time rhinoceros beetle:

Wow, he's a beauty. I haven’t seen one with so much of the green coloration on ‘em. Last year there was a guy I knew that had one but it was quite a bit lighter in color, I think it was D. tityus. How much does he weigh in at?

I'd say that's one heck of a complement! Considering 1/5 of the animals are beetles. Is that a WC or CB buy the way?

My favorite would have to be the native stags, but if I could ever get my hands on some other beetles I'd definitely have some new favorites.

This male traces his lineage back to a female caught in 1995. Due to the way the cycles work it's hard to say what generation it is.

i live in Morrow County and my son finds them in the woods all the time. You are right they are very difficult but for some reason I have noticed a spike in their population along with Mantids population spiking in 2011

I'm surprised you find them so far north in Ohio. Are you sure they're not the more northerly, brown Xyloryctes rhinos he's finding? Any photos?
