I want to hear people's experiences with them. Do they ever attack roaches? Are they likely to attempt to chew through a plastic bin? Is it a good idea to add them to a roach colony?
I worked on a cricket farm where i personally saw them attack and eat pin heads. The larvae are the consern not the beetles. They are safe for large roaches but prolly not for small ones. Also they fly so thats a pain sometimes. They cant fly below like 70°s but most roaches dont breed that cool. Non flying darkling beetles are better. Then again dermestids are cool on thier own to.
I already have a colony (they're quite active and interesting to watch, I recommend keeping them just for fun) I'm just debating whether or not to add them to my roach bin which gets a little smelly when I don't stay on top of removing carcasses.
