Roaches of Michigan...

Do we have any that aren't pests?

I just found what I think may be a roach underneath a piece of astro turf.

It can't be more than 1/3 of an inch long.

Some nonpest species native to Michigan:

Parcoblatta uhleriana and Parcoblatta lata. Probably other Parcoblatta, Ischnoptera deropeltiformis and Cryptocercus (found in Ohio but maybe not as far north as Michigan). All of these would normally be found in or under large rotting logs.

Roach?

That's the best pic I could get, it was so small. x.x

That's a true bug (hemipteran) not a cockroach. If you look at it's mouth you'll see it has a rostrum (long tube-shaped mouth) not the biting mouthparts of a cockroach.
